Competitive Stroke and Turn Development
- Ages: Five to 17 years
- Class length: 40 minutes

This class is designed to develop and improve the four competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle, as well as competitive starts and turns. Designed for a wide range of swimming abilities, all swimmers will benefit from individual instruction and small class sizes.
To participate in the class, swimmers must be able to properly demonstrate freestyle, backstroke and streamline/glide strokes; have some knowledge of butterfly and breaststroke; and be able to jump from starting blocks or the deck, and swim 50 yards freestyle and 50 yards backstroke continuously.

Diving 1

Summer Only Program
This class teaches beginners the basics of competitive diving. Kids will practice approaches, jumps in various body positions, forward dives and back dives. To participate in this class, swimmers must be comfortable swimming in deep water without flotation devices.
Diving 1 teaches beginners the basics of competitive diving. Students will practice approaches, forward and back jumps in straight, pike and tuck body positions, and forward and back dives.

Diving 2

Summer Only Program
This class introduces more advanced dives. Kids will practice forward and back dives in various body positions, including dives with twists and somersaults. Kids will also learn the basics of dive lettering, numbering and scoring. To participate in this class, swimmers must complete Diving 1.

Swim Crew
- Ages: Five to 14 years
- Class length: 30 minutes
- Seven-class session cost: $80 for members and $160 for non-members, you and/or your teen must be a Y member to receive the discounted rate
Swim Crew is a modified program from Introduction to Swim Team for water less than 7 feet deep.
Youth will learn competitive swimming techniques and language, and are introduced to organized swimming workouts. Participants work on improving their endurance and times, practices relays and fine tune their strokes.
To participate in the class, swimmers must be able to demonstrate the basic skills of what at least two of the main competitive strokes should look like: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Youth must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping.

Introduction to Swim Team - Swim Squad
- Ages: Five to 14 years
- Class length: 40 minutes
- Seven-class session cost: $140 for members and $255 for non-members, you and/or your teen must be a Y member to receive the discounted rate
Intro to Swim Team explores what it’s like to be on a swim team without committing to a whole season. Youth will learn competitive swimming techniques and languages and are introduced to organized swimming workouts. Participants work on improving their endurance and times, practicing relays, dives and other competition starts, and fine tune their strokes.
At the end of the session, youth will have the opportunity to participate in a multi-location event where they can swim against other swimmers in the program and challenge themselves for their personal best.
