We are honored to celebrate our decades-long partnership with UnitedHealth Group and its recent $5M gift and naming of the UnitedHealth Group Equity Innovation Center of Excellence. As we continue to celebrate the Forward for All Campaign, we are highlighting amazing donors who help us push what’s possible toward our $225M goal.
UnitedHealth Group Equity Innovation Center of Excellence
The UnitedHealth Group Equity Innovation Center of Excellence commits to connecting you with valuable information and insight to help you navigate our ever-changing community and learn ways to advance inclusivity and systems change so all may thrive. The YMCA and UnitedHealth Group have partnered for years on youth work and making the community better for all. In June 2020, UnitedHealth Group gifted $5M to the YMCA of the North to advance our efforts through equity experiences to ensure all can thrive at home, at work, and within our communities.
A Decades-Long Partnership
This gift is the most recent in years of generous giving by UnitedHealth Group. In 2013, UnitedHealth Group gifted $2.3M to support the Healthy Kids Initiative, Diabetes Prevention Program, and Heritage Park YMCA. Today, those standards from the Healthy Kids Initiative are incorporated into our youth development programs, and our Diabetes Prevention program and services for older adults continue.
Prior to that, in 2008, UnitedHealth Group made a gift of $2.5M to establish new health and wellness programs, investing in several Ys including the Blaisdell, Downtown Minneapolis, North Community, and Southdale sites as well as our Beacons program. In addition to these generous gifts that have helped us challenge limits, UnitedHealth Group matches gifts by their employees, providing consistent support to open doors for all. The Y is grateful for the many UnitedHealth Group leaders who personally support our work.
