We are honored to celebrate our impactful partnership with The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation and their generous support of the Forward for All Campaign.
With 14 years of support and over $10.8M in gifts, The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation has helped open doors for our communities with a deep commitment to supporting youth and working families. From day camp financial aid, to Rochester’s Y Teen Thrive program, to supporting the new Midway YMCA in 2014, to the Get Summer program that has provided over 24,000 youth summer scholarships since 2017 – the Schulze family is always there to help the Y push what’s possible for our community.
The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation has also been integral to providing youth the wonder of nature through day camp scholarships. Since 2004, their scholarships support 700 children annually to attend day camps, where they connect with the outdoors and each other. Day camp allows youth to build self-confidence and teach new skills all while making life-long friends.
Pushing What’s Possible: Get Summer
The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation saw the important need to support our youth over the summer months to ensure all had the opportunities to keep active, safe and have some fun! Every summer, high school students from each YMCA have a safe place to engage in programs that promote healthy living, build character and leadership, and support success inside and outside of the classroom through a variety of programming options like job skills training, healthy eating workshops, and swim lessons.
Coming out of the pandemic in 2021, Get Summer programming was open to past participants. This nimble programming helped youth address anxiety, stress and other feelings that arose as a result of the pandemic. Meetings were in-person as well as virtual and helped give teens a sense of support and community during an unstable summer. Thank you, Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation, for many years of life-changing support to our youth and families. Your partnership inspires us every day to push what’s possible for all to thrive.
