The YMCA Center for Youth Voice develops cause-driven leaders through programs and experiences that build civic skills, character and confidence.
Whether they are casting their first ballot on Election Day, serving as a student election judge, leading a Respectful Conversation in their classroom, participating in a model state legislature, or learning about global issues and practicing the art of compromise, CYV program participants receive a well-rounded, high-quality civic learning experience. Our proven program outcomes not only prepare young people for informed, engaged participation in civic and democratic life but they also help young people gain the skills needed to succeed in school and work: critical thinking, collaboration, communications, leadership and self-initiative.
With your help, the Center for Youth Voice can:
- Offer scholarships so that no one is turned away due to financial need
- Provide stipends to young people to recognize their contributions to program development
- Continuously evaluate and improve our youth training and retreats programs
- Develop new programs that are responsive to changes in our demographics, our communities and our world.
- Expand our program delivery to populations or parts of the state and region that have been underrepresented in the past.
