At camp Ihduhapi’s Western group riding lessons, we cover a wide range of topics and skills geared toward the interests of every rider over the course of five 75-minute lessons in the western riding discipline. Riding lessons are a great opportunity for beginner riders to start their equestrian journey, as well as advanced riders looking to practice technical skills and learn new ones. Beginner and intermediate lesson groups learn everything from horse safety and ground skills like grooming, saddling and leading; all the way up to independently riding at the walk and trot for gaming events and obstacles courses. Advanced lesson groups expand on these skills and learn more technical skills like loping, leg pressure cues, ranch riding, and more.
All lesson groups are organized by student experience, have a maximum of 6 riders, and are led by 2-3 instructors; so all students can enjoy individualized and personalized instruction. All students go on trail rides and have the opportunity to participate in a free horse show at the end of the lesson season. Lessons are scheduled to take place between the times listed, but each student is assigned a timeslot after registering. Timeslots are assigned based on student experience and comfort level, and we try to accommodate timeslot requests.
