Even if you’re not heading out of town for spring break you can put a Minnesota twist on popular warm-weather (and family-friendly) activities like:
Checking out exotic plants and animals
In St. Paul, you can do both at the Como Zoo and Conservatory—the gardens are a great way to get a dose of warm air when spring feels more like winter.
Enjoying the pool
The indoor pool, that is. Enjoy heated indoor pools at most YMCAs in the metro area. Find an indoor pool near you.
Going for a stroll
Hit your daily goal for steps with indoor laps on a YMCA treadmill or track, or at the Mall of America.
Soaking up the culture
In Minneapolis you can find free fun with the Walker Art Center’s free Thursday nights, daily admission to the Minneapolis Institute of Art, or a spectacular view from the endless bridge at the Guthrie Theater.
Across the river in St. Paul, the Schubert Club Museum features historic instruments and is also free.
Taking some “me” time
Some vacation resorts have kids club to keep children entertained while parents relax. In the Twin Cities, there are plenty of spring break activities at the Y for kids, including:
- Day camp adventures
- School’s out sports camps
- Spring break release-day programs
Trying new cuisine
Head to Midtown Global Market for far-away foods from international restaurant and grocery options.
Or, learn how to cook something new at the Y’s Healthy Living Learning Kitchens in Forest Lake and St. Paul Midway.
