Gain Perspective from Dr. Hedy Lemar Walls

August is the time when we are enjoying the last days of summer and getting ready for kids to go back to school.  With the effects of the pandemic and distance learning, there are youth who have fallen behind in their academics and they are spending time this summer going to school and trying to catch up.  The wonderful educators, along with their parents and guardians, are collaborating with youth to help them keep on track with their necessary educational requirements and valuable enriching experiences.

It is the experiences we have when we are young that help shape our view of the world and provides the foundation that we are building upon in our equity journeys.  We know that we need to always be learning in order to continue to grow.  This is a good time of the year to assess where we are in our equity journey and explore new programs, activities and resources to continue to be enlightened and inspired to make changes and create opportunities so all can thrive in our community.
