Engagement for older adults
The Y partners with local resources to support the health and wellbeing of older adults in the Rochester area with ForeverWell programming. To help meet you where you are, ForeverWell options include in-person, over the phone and online options to keep your body balanced, your mind sharp and loneliness at bay.
Planning for 2023 events is underway and will be available starting this spring—check back in March for more information!
Sampling of past 2022 events
- Sound baths—The Y collaborated with Threshold Arts to offer Singing Bowl Meditation & Relaxation programming at the Chateau Theatre. Singing bowl meditation uses the pure tones of quartz crystal bowls to guide the body into deeper states of calm as a person lays or sits quietly. This type of meditation has proven to help with brain function, memory and dementia.
- Tai Chi—Teaming up with local parks the Y offered outdoor Tai Chi sessions. Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise consisting of slow, beautiful, relaxed movements that develop a sense of balance and harmony between mind and body. Through in-person or online sessions, find a sense of wellbeing, improve general health and balance, and expand awareness.
