Nature Notes
Did you know that Camp Ihduhapi has over 20 varieties of trees on our property? We are especially fond of our sugar maples. Native Americans' were the first people to process the sap from this tree to maple syrup. This tree had many uses to the natives - they used the inner bark to make tea to treat coughs and diarrhea, made soap from its ashes, used the bark as a dye, and took the syrup for liver and kidney problems. We join in with the tradition and tap some of our maple trees in March each year!
