Camp Menogyn - Meet the Leaders

The YMCA Camping team has welcomed several new leaders in recent months. We are excited about the passion, energy and experience they bring to their roles and look forward to seeing what they can achieve. Please help us welcome the following leaders to the Menogyn community.

Forrest Ahrens

Forrest Ahrens, Executive Director

Forrest brings both a passion for wilderness programs and a strong background with YMCA Adventure to the Menogyn team. Having experienced Menogyn as a camper, staff member, and most recently as the Interim Executive Director, he has a comprehensive understanding of the Menogyn community and vision. His work has encompassed donor and alumni engagement, capital project development, DEI initiatives, and active board involvement.

A message from Forrest:

"I am incredibly excited and proud to be Menogyn’s next Executive Director. I look forward to continuing the work we have been doing to make Menogyn a leader in wilderness adventures, family and camper engagement, and equitable outdoor recreation. Thank you to everyone who has supported Menogyn this year through our transition!”

Kelly Lewis

Kelly Lewis, Summer Program Director

With a background in 5th-12th grade public education, outdoor recreation, and summer camp, Kelly brings a passion for youth development and wilderness exploration. Her dedication to inspiring young people to grow as leaders and connect with nature makes her a great fit for Camp Menogyn.

Kelly is especially excited to work in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, a place she holds close to her heart, and to help campers and staff create unforgettable memories. We’re thrilled to have Kelly on board and look for
ward to an amazing season ahead!

Louisa Mullin

Louisa Mullin, Fall, Winter, Spring Program Director

Hailing from Minneapolis, Louisa (she/her) knows first-hand the transformational experience Menogyn offers. Louisa has been a camper, trail guide, and winter staff at Menogyn and is thrilled to be starting her new role as Program Director.

Louisa has a strong background connecting people to the outdoors and each other through environmental education and backcountry canoe guiding with Eagle Bluff, Wilderness Inquiry, Camp Chewonki, and NatureBridge. In her free time Louisa enjoys hot drinks, frisbee, skiing, homemade pizza nights, and is looking forward to frequent dips in Bearskin Lake!
