Salt Lick
Summer Reservations
Summer bookings are handled through our Family Camp Lottery process.
Salt Lick was the fifth cabin built at camp. During its construction, a nearby stump was used as a dumping station for the excess salt leftover from homemade ice cream making on Sundays. Deer would approach the stump fearlessly, lick the salt and then amble down to the lake to quench their thirst. It was one of nine original cabins available when YMCA Camp du Nord opened in 1961. It has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, and a living area overlooking the lake. Biffies are located nearby, and there is a centrally located shower house with modern bathroom conveniences.
